Margaret Howell, the British heritage brand known for producing classic styles that eschew trends, has appointed a new managing director to replace Richard Craig, who is retiring after 33 years at the company.
Caroline Attwood will join the brand this month from British accessories label Ally Capellino, where she has been CEO since 2017. Prior to that, she was head of sales at Mulberry and was previously commercial director at Anya Hindmarch. She will be tasked with leading Margaret Howell — which has a “multi-million-pound turnover”, according to a statement from the company — into its next chapter.
Howell, who founded her namesake brand over 50 years ago, will continue to lead its creative direction. The designer has maintained a quiet presence in the industry for over five decades, thanks to her luxurious yet understated wardrobe staples and subtle eye for detail. The brand has stores in the UK, Europe, South Korea and Japan.
Craig will transition to a part-time role, with the majority of his responsibilities handed over to Attwood before he exits the company in February 2024.
